How to Write Website Content People Read

How many of you are dating? When I was first dating I learned that if you want to be considered an interesting date you ASK QUESTIONS.  You steer the conversation to them.  I had such a crush on the JV football captain, David Boyd. So I checked out the book The Wives Guide to Football and read it cover to cover so I could ask intelligent questions.  My relationship with David lasted until the end of football season, but while we dated I kept his attention because I spoke his language – I talked about things he was interested in.

The same is true with your online reader.  So write your content with them in mind.

Leave out the feature discussions.  If you own a beauty salon you probably cut hair, give manis and pedis and teach how to apply makeup.  Those are features.

You want to talk BENEFITS.  Your beauty salon creates a new you.  You bring out their inner beauty.  You provide confidence to nail that job interview.

Write in benefit statements.  Benefit statements talk about the RESULTS – the GOAL – what they can EXPECT if they work with you or if they buy your product.
